Well we are on a roll now with two episodes under our belts. I still feel nervous watching it but maybe that feeling won't ever go away?
This week we, well actually Justin makes a Keepsake Shadow Box to keep the memories of his recent trip to Raglan alive. I get to assist him in this project and also give him a slightly hard time as you will see on Sunday night...poor bloke he has just celebrated that big birthday. It has been fun learning to work with Justin and certainly a crash course in getting to know each other and how we both work. He is definitely and stereotypically better with the power tools than me! Also slightly taller than me if you hadn't noticed..so much so that there was talk of putting me on a box in the studio.
I wear a maroon jumper, a delicate silk rose brooch in my own design and a great vintage chequered skirt that I picked up overseas.
In this week’s show we meet
master wood turner Gordon Pembridge www.timberly.co.nz Gordon's work is
incredible, so extremely delicate it is hard to believe his pieces are
made from wood. Melanie Adams from Dunedin shows her gorgeous
Scandinavian inspired Christmas decorations
www.etsy.com/people/melaniejanebooks and Nick Feint recycles bottles for
his beautiful glass jewellery. www.stonearrow.co.nz. Justin also heads to Waiheke to visit “Upcycle Waiheke” and gets to ride his own upcycled bike.
Making shadow boxes is fun, they are so easy to make and effective. In fact my son Hugo got one for Christmas and being a budding Archaeologist he has mounted some bones he found on the beach...better that than them lying around his bedroom!
Justin and I look forward to seeing you again this Sunday Night 7pm TVNZ Heartland Sky channel 17
